   That would be totally counter-productive and unscientific, especially in Darwin’s time when he stood to gain very little from his research, which went against the grain of contemporary Victorian scientific acceptance. “Making things work in your favour” is not science. The self-correcting nature of science will eventually weed out any bias that you have introduced into your published studies.

   That is an baseless, ad hominem argument. That is like me saying “most Christians lack a real father in real life – either because their father is deceased, or their parents are separated, and therefore they have a psychological dependence on God as a father substitute”.

   I’m sure you’d ask me to back such a claim up with evidence, wouldn’t you?

   Humans are more closely related to modern apes than to monkeys, but we didn’t evolve from apes, either. Again, both humans and modern apes both evolved from a common ancestor which split into different lineages. That ancestor would not exactly resemble any animal alive today.

   How come humans aren’t “something else”? We are something else! We are different from the hominids which we came from. However we also have developed a civilisation which has all but wiped out natural selection for humans.

    @ceriah311: With respect, that is complete rubbish. Piltdown man was a known fake, this was proved and science moved on. This is because science is a self-correcting discipline – over time, inaccuracies are inevitably discovered and corrected.

    If you expect to find intermediate versions of existing species, you have fundamentally misunderstood the concept of evolution. Humans didn’t evolve from monkeys. Humans and monkeys both share a common ancestor, but they diverged into different lineages.

    pilt down project.. beside if evolution was present..how come their are no monkeys that are mid ranged humans by now.. or how come we as humans arent something else yet.     I only respect you for attacking the beliefs and not the person. One of my best friends was a Wicca. It was un-necessary for you to be rude, though. It’s kinda weird, one of my best friends is a Wicca and neither of us is uncomfortable with anything about the other. Why should it matter so much? It shouldn’t.

    Evolution has been proved and that means no Adam and Eve, no original sin and no need for Jesus to save mankind. That pretty much means the bible should be recycled. Remember recycling is good for the environment.

    You can say that as …
    You can say that as much as you like, but unless you can prove beyond doubt that I somehow have a “curse” in me (”original sin”), then I do not accept that I, or anyone, needs to be “saved”.

    Since you can’t show that the fall of man really happened, you can’t claim that Jesus Christ “died for our sins”, any more than a Muslim can claim that Mohammed actually and literally ascended to heaven on a winged horse.

    Adam and Eve is not a literal truth, it’s a story.
