How do I make certain letters on the talkbox?
February 13th, 2010 | by admin |So I just got a rocktron banshee talkbox that I’m using with my cheapo casio keyboard. I’m enjoying it quite much but I’m not sure how to maker certain sounds such as F, G, T, S, probably the other more common difficult letters. So anyone have any tips?
There a just certain letters that aren’t going to come out perfect. Mainly, because you’ve got a tube in your mouth and that interfers with making the proper shapes to create those sounds.
I built my first talk box after "Rocky Mountain Way" came out, and it took a long, long time to get to where I could make words with it.
One thing I would recommend is getting a smaller tube. The one that comes with the Banshee is actually quite large. I use a tube that is 1/4" smaller, and it makes a big difference in being able to actually talk with the thing.
The trade off is that as you decrease the diameter of the tube, the less air that can travel up it and the less volume you will get out of the effect.
Good luck.
