So im having a problem with my counselor because i want to change one of my classes but she doesnt want to do it. So i told my mom already and she called my counselor and she said that she is not going to change my classes. So my mom now wants to write a letter to the principal about this and she has asked me for help but i dont even know where to start. So can someone just show me how to start the letter and how to politely address this problem.
you could trysomething like :
Dear…,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am the mother of…… My son/daughter (name) wishes to change/switch/leave his/her (name of class). Then explain why you need this change in class and why it would be beneficial to you rather then your current class situation. Explain that you have gone through the proper channels first and have experienced n unfortunate difference of opinion with your counselor. That you feel that even though you disagree you feel this change is necessary and/ the most important thing would be your ability to preform well.
It is important not to seem like your attacking the counselor or the principal may simply dismiss the writer as an over protective mother and the letter becomes more about the counselor then the importance of changing your class.
since i dont know the exact situation im just giving a broad example. I hope this helps. If not you can take what you will or dismiss it. Good look. It s hard writing these kinds of letters

I am writing a letter for my college dorms. We are located in NYC and have 600 residents. We will include the restaurants that give us discounts in our monthly newsletter, on every floor, and in our game room. Can someone help me with a sample letter or at least step-by-step tips.
In all out honesty, you would be better off going into the establishment and presenting your claim or cause and here it straight from the horses mouth so-to-speak. An appearance has much more impact, face to face, that sort of thing usually gets you much further than a letter. Good Luck.

How do I write a letter to local businesses for donations of baskets/goodies for our 135th Alumni Banquet in June 2010. We are looking for baskets/goodies for "basket raffle". Our alumni association is a non profit organization, and we have tax exemption EIN # – shall we add it on the letter too? I need help writing one up.
I doubt anyone will give you stuff -you’re not a charity – doesn’t matter if you are a non-profit

I am trying to join the police, but have a careless driving offence from a couple of years ago. The police have asked me to write a letter explaining the situation, who, where when and WHY.
How do I go about writing a letter like this? Does anyone have any examples, templates, good words or paragraphs?
The only advise I can give you is be truthful this is a test! As far as format try to be as professional as possible proper headers, grammar the works. Remember a police officer is only as good as his word. Best of luck to you.
Former police officer.

I am currently a junior in high school in Minnesota and I am planning on moving to Iceland after college, should I write a letter to the ambassador of Iceland? I think that the letter would include questions pertaining to working and renting an apartment in Iceland and that sort of stuff…Do you think I should write this letter?
No…there are plenty of ways to obtain the info you want. I am sure this is NOT the kind of work the ambassador does and he would just pass it on to some assistant to write to you. They would most likely tell you to think creatively and look up the info on the internet and on the embassy website. The embassy is your best source of info..that is one of their main responsibilities. It would be wise to learn the visa requirements, what jobs are avail there, what yu should take in college to qualify for those jobs. Look up the Embassy of Iceland to the U.S. and do research on Iceland on the internet. You have several years to make your plans…which could change by that time.

I need to write a letter asking if we could conduct a charity event in a retirement home. I am going to send it to a government agency and I don’t know what type of letter should I use. I also need the format for the letter. Please help.
There doesn’t have to be any formal style to a letter like this. It is going to be read by a bureaucrat that probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference anyway.
Just elaborate on the following paragraph outline:
1. We are seeking permission to hold a charitable event at this location.
2. Here is what we hope to do, when, and the charity it will benefit. Mention the concurrence of the home’s management (if they are keen on the idea).
3. Thank them for their consideration and as for a timely reply. Offer contact information if they need more information before granting approval.
That’s about it. Doesn’t have to be a big deal.

the girl I like left me a letter at work that is really great. She wrote a poem, and I mean real poetry with structure and substance, nothing like the email chains that are corny and conventional. I cannot write to save my life and I have no real artistic talent. I would like to return the gesture but all I am really good at is drawing cartoons and there is something painfully unromantic about that. I would feel bad giving her a letter that lacks the inspiration she has, what should I do?
Honestly, if I was her, and you did some kind of cartoon drawing, I would be over the moon. It’s something you can do well, and you put effort into it. Trust me, if this girl likes you, it will mean the absolute world to her!

I want to write a letter to President Obama.
Im curious if anyone knows who gets the mail first and how they determine which letters to show to the President.
I guess bottom line is it a waste of time to send the letter if there is no chance the President will ever see it ?, Thanks.
There is a mailroom for the White House. The mail is obviously checked by x-ray and other methods before anyone ever reads it. In the mailroom, there are employees who read the mail first determine whether the correspondence is timely, whether it contains any threats, what the topic is, and any main points you may bring up.
Best advice for a letter to the White House:
Be brief. There is no need to write a 5 page letter if a 2 pager will do.
If you really think your letter might be important enough and would get looked at by way higher ups, make sure you write a _formal_ letter and this is _without_ exception.
There are guides to doing this sort of thing, if you aren’t a master of the art of letter writing, you may want to look at business letters you have received to use as a guide, or try a search if you lack confidence in this sort of thing. Outlining what you want to say first may also help you organize your letter.
The volume of mail into the White House is large, so if your letter is one of those that any of the higher-ups ever do read, you may never know it.
Oh, and I think the people who make those sorts of decisions are liasons who look for certain things of interest the President may be looking for. The mailroom is not the only place the President receives messages from consituents. Don’t forget the comment line, email, and telegrams.

I am leaving for Marines boot camp and i was told before i leave i have to write a letter to a board explaining my leave of absence. The reason is they have given me a scholarship. If anyone knows what kind of letter this would be called and what kind of direction i would take it that would be a great help. Thanks to all.
It sounds like you will be losing your scholarship unless you write this letter asking them to hold on to it for you until you return for your studies. Just tell them that…I’m going into the Marines, I’ll be on active duty status with them for X number of years, and I’d really appreciate the college holding on to my scholarship until I return.

Want to type up a letter to pay a tenant to move/give tenant a decision to take the money or stay. Is there any example letters out there to do this? ANY letter would be of help.
TO 1st answer: According to an attorney we can only offer to pay this tenant to move. It’s quite complicated (we’ve talked to attorney’s and numerous landlord advisors)…in my case it is easier to pay them to move; we are in a rent controlled area; it would be in our best interest to get them to move this way. we will be able to get someone in there to pay what the apt is worth in our area and get the $ back quicker; even in our rent controlled area the apt is worth twice as much as what the tenant is paying; we can only raise rent at a certain percentage and we are not getting anything out of her paying what she’s been paying before i purchased the bldg.
Dear Mr. Tenant,
I wish to sell my home (enter reason or make something up), I know your lease is good for another (X months). I know it is a hassle to move & I want to make this as easy as possible for you. I will offer to pay for your moving costs, plus your first month’s rent in your new place. I am also willing to refer you to a property management company, who may be able to assist you in finding another apartment or house to rent.
Please let me know if this is favorable to you.
Thank you,
(your name here)
